Walter König is responsible for press and public relations, sustainability, internal organization, the Junior-brewers Circle, IT and especially raw materials. In the course of securing sustainable raw materials for the German brewing industry, his area of responsibility was expanded in 2007 to include the brewing barley association (Braugersten-Gemeinschaft e.V.) and in 2017 to include the Society for Hop Research (Gesellschaft für Hopfenforschung e.V.).

The Bavaria brewers association is the umbrella organization of the Bavarian brewing industry, headquartered in Munich. The statutory purpose of the association, to which breweries of all sizes from all regions of Bavaria (breweries in Bavaria) are affiliated and which today represents around 90% of Bavarian beer output, is “to represent and promote the common interests of the entire Bavarian brewing industry”. The Bavarian Brewers Association sees itself as a “service organization” that makes a decisive contribution to the success of its member companies. It helps by providing competent advice on business or technical issues, on problems relating to environmental law or technology, and also in the field of social, labor and collective bargaining law.
